Content Ops Audit

Before you automate anything, you need to know what you are actually running. We map your content operation end to end, identify every bottleneck and manual step, and hand you a prioritised build plan for what to fix first.

Timeline1 week

Most content teams automate the wrong thing first. They reach for an AI writing tool before they have mapped their workflow. They speed up one step without knowing which step is actually the constraint. The result is a faster version of a broken process.

The audit comes before everything else. We interview your team, trace every step from brief to publish, and document what is slow, what is inconsistent, and what is a clear candidate for automation. You leave with a workflow map and a sequenced build plan. No guesswork about where to start.

What is included
  • 01Workflow interview — structured sessions with every person who touches content production, from brief to publish
  • 02Tool audit — we map every platform in your stack and how they connect, or fail to
  • 03Bottleneck analysis — we identify exactly where time is lost, quality drops, and handoffs break down
  • 04Automation opportunity scoring — each bottleneck ranked by impact, effort, and fit for AI
  • 05Workflow map — a full visual and written documentation of your current content operation
  • 06Build plan — a sequenced list of automations to build, with scope and expected outcome for each
  • 07Readout session — 60-minute walkthrough of findings and plan with your team

How the audit runs.

01
Intake

You share access to your current tools, any existing documentation, and a list of people involved in content. We review everything before the first session so we are not asking you to explain basics.

02
Workflow interviews

We run structured 30-minute sessions with each person who touches content production. Briefers, writers, editors, publishers, whoever signs off. We are mapping what actually happens, not what the process doc says happens.

03
Analysis

We trace the full path from content idea to live page. Every handoff, every tool switch, every manual step. We score each stage by time cost, quality risk, and automation fit.

04
Workflow map

Your content operation documented in full. Visual and written. Where things enter the system, how they move through it, where they get stuck, and what the exit looks like.

05
Build plan readout

We present the sequenced automation plan. What to build first and why. What the output of each automation looks like. What stays manual and why. You leave with a clear picture of the next 90 days.

Common questions.

01Do we need to commit to a retainer after the audit?+
No. The audit stands alone. Some clients use the build plan to brief their own team. Others bring us back to build the automations. Either is fine. The audit is designed to be useful regardless of what happens next.
02We are a small team. Is this worth doing?+
Especially worth doing. Small teams feel bottlenecks more acutely. One broken handoff can stall your entire content output for a week. The audit finds those failure points before they repeat.
03Our content workflow is a mess. Will that make this harder?+
No. A messy workflow is exactly what the audit is for. We have run this on teams with no documented process, no consistent tooling, and content scattered across three platforms. We work from reality, not from a tidy diagram.
04What if we have already tried to document our workflow?+
Send it over. We will use your existing documentation as a starting point and validate it against what we find in the interviews. Existing docs usually cover the intended process. We are looking for the actual one.
